Hard to Recycle Items

There are several items that we can't take in our recycling program, but we don't want to see them end up in the landfill either. Many of these items can be taken to special recycling locations, or reused by local businesses.

You can also check with RecycleWorks for a database of where to recycle items, as well as where to buy green.

Packaging Materials:

Don't throw away packaging materials to be dumped in a landfill, donate them instead!

Styrofoam is made with petroleum, a non-sustainable and heavily polluting resource. We ask that you avoid using or buying products made of Styrofoam if you can, but if you can't, there are a few alternatives. Julindra Recycling in Crescent City recycles Styrofoam. They will also take packing peanuts and other packaging materials at no charge.
